Waiting for the Spirit: An Online Retreat

Waiting for the Spirit: Ascension to Pentecost Retreat - text next to image of disciples at Pentecost

Spend the days between Ascension and Pentecost in prayer with the IgnatianSpirituality.com community and the online retreat, Waiting for the Spirit. Just as the Apostles and Mary waited in prayer between Christ’s Ascension into heaven and the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, we await the renewal the Holy Spirit brings as we close the Easter season.

Our nine-day online spiritual retreat series will start May 22, 2020, and conclude May 30, the Vigil of Pentecost. Each day will include prayer suggestions and a video reflection inspired by the daily Gospel and featuring Loyola Press authors and dotMagis bloggers:

  • Becky Eldredge
  • Brendan McManus, SJ
  • Shemaiah Gonzalez
  • Marina McCoy
  • Barbara Lee
  • Mark Thibodeaux, SJ
  • Ricardo Grzona
  • Tim Muldoon
  • Fiona Basile

Vinita Wright, Gretchen Crowder, and Rebecca Ruiz will offer short prayers to conclude each day’s retreat materials. We encourage you to share your thoughts on each day’s retreat reflections through the comments section here on dotMagis.

There is no need to register for this free retreat, but if you’d like daily reminders when each day’s content is available, sign up for the Year in Our Church e-mails from Loyola Press.

Invite your friends and family to join you in Waiting for the Spirit by posting on your favorite social media sites. Then mark your calendar for May 22!

  3. Today s gospel and reflections reminded me on how my families a s friends asked and prayed to Jesus thru the holy spirit the chance of my second life. When I was in coma i felt the holy spirit gave me joy as if I am alive,.they entertained me and like I am alive living with them.I felt it so much that I did not feel the pain and sufferings in ICU. As a retired nurse I knew it.It is different when I knew that the holy spirit is always there.my sister Andy co nurses were praying. So when I woke up my I don’t feel pain my heart was do light and my face was angelic, I did not have any problems no stress
Since then I always ask for Jesus presence on my life and the Holy spirit is guiding me for any kind of decision I have to make.God a d the Holy spirit will be with us forever
    Amen

  5. I’ve been looking for something to click on but all I get are adverts for the retreat, not the retreat itself.

    • Gilbert, when the retreat starts tomorrow (May 22), you’ll see the link on the homepage and in the sidebar for the rest of the site.

  6. Before starting this retreat, I want to be sure I can give it the deserved time. How much time per day should I plan to devote to the retreat?

    • Jerome, 30-45 minutes per day for watching/reading the materials and including your personal reflection time should be a good estimate.
