This November, an “International Seminar on Ignatian Pedagogy and Spirituality” (SIPEI) will be held in Manresa, Spain. The goal is to strengthen the dialogue between spirituality and Ignatian pedagogy with a global vision. Ahead of the conference, those involved in Jesuit education are invited to participate in a virtual portion of the seminar.

It will be interesting to see what, if any, effect this will have on some Jesuit universities in this country where they seem to be in lock step with the general American inability to tell he difference between liberty and license. If these institutions don’t think they have been a cause of scandal through some of the people that they have invited to speak at various academic functions then perhaps this seminar is long overdue. Of course the usual charge of being narrow minded or being a hater will resound throughout academe. So be it.
