How to Survive Desolation

What’s the most important key to surviving desolation?  I vote for patience.  This author says it’s  “sufficient grace,” quoting Ignatius:

A person who is in desolation should recall that he can do much to withstand all of his enemies by using the sufficient grace that he has, and taking strength in his Creator and Lord.

What do you think?

Read the whole article.  It’s a very good summary of some of Ignatius’s rules.

  1. Great article! I would’ve said the most important thing was perseverance, but not surprisingly St. Ignatius is three steps ahead of me (“One who is in desolation must strive to persevere in patience”) =)
Part 8 about Reasons for the Desolation really gives some good stuff to think about. Especially how God often uses it to keep us humble.
