Becky Eldredge, dotMagis blogger and author of Busy Lives & Restless Souls, walks us through the steps of the Examen in this four-minute video. As Eldredge explains it, the steps are:
- Ask for the Holy Spirit’s help.
- Be thankful.
- Notice God’s presence.
- Notice the lack of God’s presence.
- Look to the future.
For a peek into why Eldredge loves praying the Examen, watch her conversation with Paul Brian Campbell, SJ, here.
Becky’s Ignatian stuff is solid and fun to live out in my daily life. 🙂
Tom, thank you so much! Love to hear the joy and playfulness also about living it out.
Thank you Becky.
Will use this for my bible study this week.
Thank you for sharing!
That’s great, Michael! Loyola Press also put together a video on praying Lectio Divina and Ignatian Contemplation.
“Busy Lives & Restless Souls” is full of wisdom like the simplified Examen. Thank you for your commitment to our Lord, Becky, in writing this book.
Lynda, you are always encouraging, and that means so much. Thank you!
Thank you Becky. You’ve simplified the Examin for me.
