Welcome to Advent 2010! Our Advent resources this year include the Advent retreat booklet based on the Spiritual Exercises in everyday life. Here on dotMagis each Sunday, you’ll find brief reflections to jump-start your week. Please share your retreat experience with others here throughout the week in the comments.
The First Week of Advent: Journeying Toward an Encounter with the Lord Who ComesPetition: Ask for the grace of entering into the spirit of Advent, a time of hope, of listening to the Word, of a universal call to spread the Good News.A recorded message: “Sorry I was out when you called. Please leave your name and number.”
Will this be my response to the touch of God upon my life? To that totally unexpected moment when I know beyond doubt that God is and that God is in touch with me?
God doesn’t leave messages; God speaks to the heart. May we keep our lines open 24/7.

Yes, it is difficult to find time for God especially this time of the year. When we make time for God, setting aside some time each day, we will have the time.
trying to find time for God can be difficult, because we are overloaded with everything else. maybe it will be easier if we choose what’s worth and what’s not worth. maybe we should use advent time to try to learn to choose what really is important in our lives.
I love that, Barbara…I always feel overloaded and overwhelmed. Your encouragement to” learn to choose what really is important in our lives” gives great food for thought this season.
