This post is based on Week Three of An Ignatian Prayer Adventure.
The First Week of the Spiritual Exercises is a consideration of sin and God’s mercy. In fact, as Kevin O’Brien, SJ, explains:
It should probably go the other way around, where primarily it’s an experience of God’s mercy, of God’s love for us. That’s the context in which we consider sin in our world and sin in our life, because more original than sin is grace, original grace, which we know surpasses all sin and conquers all sin, and so it’s a celebration of that grace.
Fr. Kevin O’Brien, SJ, introduces the First Week in the video below. O’Brien is the author of The Ignatian Adventure: Experiencing the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius in Daily Life and Seeing with the Heart: A Guide to Navigating Life’s Adventures.
Thanks Fr. Kevin. Researching and rediscovering the Original Grace is highly beneficial exercise.
