The Ignatian Year has a theme song, “La Herida,” or, “The Wound.” Composed by Cristóbal Fones, SJ, with lyrics by José María Rodríguez Olaizola, SJ, the song was translated into English and French by Phillip Hurley, SJ, and Pierre Bélanger, SJ, respectively. In English, the refrain is, “At the end of our days we will abide / with your love and grace to heal our every wound.”
Reflect with the song in its international version below. Then join us beginning July 1 for the annual 31 Days with St. Ignatius.
Very soothing. Thanks.
How can I get English words and music for the song? I would love for our choir to learn this for the feast of St. Ignatius especially since our church is named for St. Ignatius.
Kathleen, the words and music are available from the composer’s website: https://cfones.cl/canciones/la-herida-2/.
