When my grandson was just learning to communicate, “Uh-oh!” was one of his standby phrases. This is pretty common for young children, but what struck me was that he didn’t utter it only when something “bad” happened. Whenever there was any transition, such as going from one room to the next or getting in and out of the car, he would say, “Uh-oh!” It was cute, but I wonder if sometimes I respond the same way to potential or real changes in life. Do I reflexively react with the uh-oh of hesitation or even outright fear? Or do I trust in the light of God’s power and love and move forward in confidence?
