Politician Quits after Ignatian Retreat

Sarah Teather MP at HarrogateSarah Teather decided to quit Parliament after a process of discernment during a 30-day Ignatian retreat near Liverpool. She said: “Sometimes you just have to shut up. This politician just needed to shut up and stop talking in order to make a decision.”

  1. This reminds me of my own description of my enthusiasm for contemplative prayer: it’s a time to just sit down and shut up. With shutting referring to so many of our “chatty” portals that are filled every day in all sorts of way.
